SWITZERLAND: Non-profits that make foreign distributions must now register

New rules on registration and transparency are now in force, applying to Swiss-based non-profit associations under the revised Anti-Money Laundering Act and the amended Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance in order to protect them from terrorist financing abuse. Associations must register with the commercial register if their primary purpose is to directly or indirectly collect or distribute assets abroad for charitable purposes. They must also keep publicly available a list of the members of the association. Existing associations have until 30 June 2024 to comply.
