The UK's companies registrar, Companies House, has written to overseas entities who own or lease property or land in the UK, warning them that they must apply to register on the new register of overseas entities by 31 January 2023. Failure to do so may lead to criminal penalties, even if the entity sold the property after 28 February 2022 or is based in a Crown Dependency or Overseas Territory. The detailed guidance on registering and disposing of UK property as an overseas entity has also been updated.
