Nova Scotia, Quebec and Saskatchewan are introducing beneficial ownership transparency regimes, making Alberta and the 'three territories' the only Canadian jurisdictions not to have done so yet. Quebec's approach is the most wide-reaching, imposing transparency filing obligations on foreign corporations and other entities if they register to do business in the province. Its register will be publicly accessible in 2023 and will be searchable by individual names in 2024.
