From 1 July 2024, tax agents in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will have to follow the Federal Tax Authority’s professional standards framework. Agents will be penalised for misconduct through the accrual of 'black points' awarded for initial notifications from the agency, warnings and severe or repeated violations, eventually escalating to deregistration of the agent. It follows the tax authority's publication of a comprehensive tax procedures guide in December 2024.
