British Virgin Islands (BVI) companies whose fiscal or financial year is not a calendar year have been granted an extra nine months to file the initial annual return required under s.98A of the BVI Business Companies Act 2020. The original deadline was on or after 1 October 2024, depending on the company''s financial year-end. A similar extension has already been granted to companies whose fiscal or financial year is a calendar year, who were originally required to file their returns by 30 September 2024. The regulator cites 'policy and logistical issues in ensuring full compliance''.
